Ok so I haven’t actually got a chance to check out the two series on Apple TV that I posted about last month, ahah. I’m still keen on checking out SEVERANCE at some point, but now Apple just unveiled a new trailer that’s definitely right up my alley!
Here’s the details per its press release:
Apple TV+ today unveiled the trailer for “Slow Horses,” the keenly anticipated espionage series starring Academy Award-winner Gary Oldman, launching globally on Friday April 1. Adapted from CWA Gold Dagger Award-winning Mick Herron’s first novel in the Slow Horses series, the six-episode drama will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes, followed by one episode weekly, every Friday.
Slow Horses is a darkly humorous espionage drama that follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 known un-affectionately as Slough House. Oldman stars as ‘Jackson Lamb,’ the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies, who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes as they frequently find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world.
The ensemble cast includes Academy Award-nominee Kristin Scott Thomas, BAFTA Scotland Award-winner Jack Lowden, Olivia Cooke, Saskia Reeves, Dustin Demri-Burns, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Paul Higgins, Freddie Fox, Chris Reilly, Steve Waddington, Paul Hilton, Antonio Aakeel, Peter Judd, and a special guest appearance by Academy Award-nominee Jonathan Pryce.
The series is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith (Veep). James Hawes directs all six episodes and executive produces.

I have a penchant for British shows and actors, AND I love spy-related stories. Plus THIS cast!! Oldman is back playing another British spy, Jackson Lamb reminds me of the spy genius George Smiley in John le Carré’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy who’s a master of tradecraft, except he’s no longer in British spying’s glory days. He sneers at klutzy team of spies but though he’s aware they’re losers, he calls them ‘my losers,’ ahahaha
I haven’t seen Kristin Scott Thomas in anything lately, so I’m excited to watch her. Glad to see Olivia Cooke who’s impressed me in various projects, I had no idea she was even British in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, and she’s great in Vanity Fair miniseries. I’ve seen Scottish actor Jack Lowden in a few movies including Fighting with My Family, Mary Queen of Scots and he’s a really talented actor.
Based on this book review on NPR, I’m even more excited for this series!! Apparently Mick Herron finds that ‘…the world of espionage more comic than tragic.’ Hey, not all spies got it all together like James Bond, so focusing on bumbling MI5 agents who keep blundering their mission sounds so refreshing!
I definitely will be watching this when it drops on April 1!
