Happy March everybody!! It’s still Winter here and we actually may get snow showers on Monday but I don’t care, I’m going to have tulips on my recap banner today!! Think Spring. Think Spring. Think Spring. 😀
Ok, now that I’ve got that out of my system.
Well, February has been quite a hectic month, blogging and otherwise. It’s also been VERY cccccolddd… more days w/ subzero temps than I remember. But… according to a local meteorologist, historical weather data shows the coldest 90 days of the year, on average, are from December 1 to March 1, so yeah!! Plus, We’ve picked up over 2 hours and 20 minutes of daylight since December 21, I love it when it’s still somewhat light out when I get out of the office.
Ok, enough with the weather report, or you’re gonna think you’re stranded in a weather blog 😉

All About Eve is one of my favorites. I’m also looking forward to your review of The Heiress! My favorite discovery of February was probably Midnight Mary (1933). Great Loretta Young film told through a progressive series of flashbacks.

That was a good month! I have not seen as much as last month, but this week saw the awesome documentary mini series The Staircase…one of the highlights of February.

February was pretty hefty by the looks of things Ruth! My favourite movie of the month? I’d probably say either Ruby Sparks or Cloud Atlas. Eclectic 🙂
Yeah, I’ve been busy, if only traffic was as busy this month 😦 Oh Ruby Sparks and Cloud Atlas! I like both very much and yeah, two very different films!
It turned out to be a lighter month for me – only 33 films over the 28 days (I love how I consider that “lighter”), and about half of those were re-watches.
Of what I saw though, my top five first-watches would go like so (in alphabetical order):

Interesting to see Warm Bodies in your top 5, I’m not really into zombie movies, but zombie rom-com sounds intriguing enough to rent!

YES! It’s almost spring, I can’t wait for the weather to get warm, so sick of the cold and snow.
I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of new films this past month, just 7 Psychopaths and one other I forgot. I did watch a lot of old Bond films, the ones I haven’t gotten on Blu-ray and of course I’ve watched Skyfall twice since I bought it on BD.
I won a couple of passes to see Jack the Giant Slayer at the zoo IMAX theater. I don’t really want to see it but it’s free so why not.
Yeah, I’m so glad the day is getting longer Ted. I’m sick of snow too, but we may still get another storm next week 😦
What did you think of Seven Psychopaths? Some people said it’s not that good so I’m not that enthused to checking it out.
I just got my review done of Jack the Giant Slayer, curious to hear your thoughts.
I also saw Seven Psychopaths and i think its pretty good. Its extremely self referential, so some people may have been put off by it
Seven Psychopaths was directed by the same guy who directed In Brudges and I believe you enjoyed that film, so you might like this one. It’s more about the Hollywood life, particularly screenwriters and my favorite genre, action flicks. I thought it was excellent but I understand if some might not get into it. Just a warning though, it’s quite violent, the film was nothing like the trailers they’ve shown. Which was good because when I saw the trailer, it looked like a lame comedy thriller and didn’t care for it.
Seven Psychopaths is okay, it gets a little lost at times though.

Hi Andina, yeah it ends up to be a decent month for movie watching and blogging, but traffic is still not as high as I would’ve liked.

I didn’t watch any amazing movies last month, hopefully this month will be better 🙂 But I did see Nikolaj in Mama, he was pretty much the only good thing about that mess. I saw the previous 2 seasons of Game of Thrones last week, which was better than most movies out there combined 🙂
I hope Spring would be a better movie-watching month for you Sati. I adore Nikolaj but even he won’t convince me to see Mama. GoT sounds great but as I’ve told you before, it’s just too violent for me.

All About Eve is excellent indeed. The script is so well done and Bette Davis was simply amazing. One of the best performances by an actress of all time.

Hi Ruth, it seems like you had a more productive movie month than I did! I’ll blame Boardwalk Empire for that — such an addictive show! I have only seen two of the movies you listed, but I agree that All About Eve is a great one. Hope you’re able to see Sunset Blvd soon so you can compare the two 1950 rivals.

Sorry I missed your comment. Oh I thought she was good, though Baxter’s style is a bit overacting to me, she was that way in Ten Commandments and Yellow Sky (a Western w/ Gregory Peck). I much prefer Bette Davis and Celeste Holm’s style.
Yeah, I’m with you. I found her very dull, especially compared to Davis. Otherwise a fun film.
I guess anyone is dull compared to Davis 😀 I do love Celeste though, she’s lovely!

I saw North & South ages ago, aside from the history lesson, I suppose the attraction for women is to watch P Swayze? 🙂
My favorite film of the month so far is Lawrence of Arabia. I also recently saw Headhunters, a fine thriller I’d recommend.
Oh no Chris, this is the BBC version of North n South w/ Richard Armitage. Ahah i dont find Swayze all that hunky.

Glad to see All About Eve is your favorite movie that you saw last month. Mine is A Matter of Life and Death (1946), starring David Niven and Kim Hunter.
Yeah, this is the second or third time I had a classic movie as my fave movie of the month. The other one was An Affair to Remember. Oh I like Niven, I should check that one out.
Pretty tame month of movie watching, it seems like, Ruth. I so can’t wait for winter to be over and boom, we get a massive snowstorm tonight 😦
I haven’t been to the movie theater all month and I’m pretty glad I didn’t… I did see some good movies on DVD recently:
– The Perks of Being a Wallflower: I was pretty much blown away at good this flick was. Very heartfelt and done with so much care and attention. Maybe my favorite movie of 2012 after all.
– End of Watch: I wasn’t expecting much from the trailers but great lead performances/chemistry really go a long way here.
– Akira: Finally saw this cult movie. I can see why it’s seen as one of the staple of animated features.
– Taken 2: Not nearly as good as the first one.
– Seven Psychopaths: Didn’t unfold as cleverly as I expected. But Sam Rockwell is fantastic!
– Cosmopolis: I don’t know why I watched that movie. It was horrible.
– Love and Other Drugs: Not too terrible but kinda bland.
Yeah, this snow storm is such a bummer. I had to miss an Oz screening because of it 😦

Great month, Ruth! I saw a lot of great movies in February, so I had a very difficult time picking a favorite. I watched The Godfather on the big screen, and also Wreck-it Ralph, Zero Dark Thirty, The Sessions, Les Mis…the list goes on.
I really want to see side Effects!!!! Sounds amazing! interesting selection you watched this month. Many I’d like to see. I finally saw Holy Motors and Cloud Atlas and loved them both!
