Wahoo!! My favorite toy gang is back! Can you believe it that it’s been 3 years since TOY STORY 3 was released? Well, that film made my top five of 2010, one of those rare movies that garners a full 5/5 score from moi. Now, I did have a small quibble about that film in that it didn’t have enough Mr. Pricklepants, voiced by, who else, Timothy Dalton of course!
So imagine my thrill when I heard his deep, inimitable voice narrating this spooktastic half-hour special coming to ABC on Wednesday, October 16 at 8 p.m. ET. Of course it’s always fun to see Woody, Buzz and the his riotous team back together again!
This is the plot per Huffington Post: What starts out as a fun road trip for the “Toy Story” gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in “Toy Story of TERROR!”
Angus MacLane, one of Pixar’s animators who worked on a bunch of Pixar animations since A Bug’s Life is directing the short feature, and Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino who won for UP worked on the score.
Check out the trailer:
I LOVE all the vocal talents here, Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head, Wallace Shawn as Rex and Kristen Schaal as Trixie. A while back Tom Hanks described the challenges of voicing Woody on the Graham Norton show. Oh you’ve got to see it for yourself, it’s such a hoot! It shows just how awesome and affable Hanks is, and makes you truly appreciate his — and others’ — voice work in this Pixar masterpiece trilogy.

Can’t wait to see this one. How about you, folks?
Caught the promo for this last night. Oh yes, I’m excited for this!
I’m so glad Pixar is doing this! Heck I don’t even mind seeing Toy Story 4, esp if Mr. Pricklepants is back as well 😀
I am so excited about this! I hope it comes over to the UK!
Hello Vix!! Yes it will come to the UK on Sky. Here’s an article on that: http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/toy-story-terror-trailer-shows-2286749
I do enjoy the Toy Story movies but this is probably not for me. I’m sure my niece and nephew will enjoy it though.
Ahah yeah I know you’re not into animation Ted, but yeah, Pixar stuff is great for kids AND adults 😀
This looks fun!
There’s not really any good looking films coming out near Halloween
Well I don’t really care for horror films but I do LOVE Pixar and Toy Story, so that’s why it’s the ONLY Halloween-related thing I’m looking forward to 😀
Man, I love the Toy Story movies and shorts. I already got this one set to record in my DVR. Plus, I’m dying to see Mr. Pricklepants and Trixie. And I would love to see a cameo from Totoro.
Would you hit me if I told you I’ve only seen one Toy Story? I’ve heard the third is a tear-jerker, and I do like Pixar.
what ????
Wait til your kids grow up–you won’t watch any animation! That’s my only excuse.
How true that is Cindy, when my 1st boy started watching films the only animated movie we owned was Finding Nemo. After about 20 viewings I had to rectify that situation. Now half the films we own are animated lol
Ahahaha, well since I don’t have kids, I take your word for it Cindy & Adam. Thankfully the quality of animated films have improved in terms of visuals and story.
Ahah, well I won’t hit anyone for not having seen something, let alone you dearest! But you really should watch Toy Story 2 and 3, they’re sooo adorable. Yeah the 3rd one is a tear jerker but in a good way, trust me.
Toy Story of Terror, eh? I might have to check it out… looks like it could be fun!
Yeah, who doesn’t love Woody & the gang?
Ooh, cool! Will definitely watch! Even though I must be the only person in the world who isn’t head-over-heels in love with the Toy Story movies. I just think they’re OK! haha
Loved that Hanks video. I’d seen it before but I loved watching it again. He’s such a cool guy.
Hey as long as you somewhat like Toy Story that’s ok, can’t imagine anyone hating those films!
Yeah, I’ve watched that video of Hanks on Graham Norton over and Over, he’s so awesome and versatile!
Good! I certainly don’t hate it. You would need to have a heart of stone to hate those movies!
Exactly! I don’t love everything Pixar does but these characters are so fun and endearing, even the supporting character like Rex is a hoot!
I love Rex and Hamm too! Slinky, of course.
I’m looking forward to this as well!
Glad to hear, Nick!
This is the way to go for Pixar. TV specials and shorts. We don’t need a Toy Story 4. The ending to the 3rd one was perfect!
Hi Asrap! Yeah I guess you’re right we don’t need Toy Story 4 though I so love these characters that I hope they’d do these TV specials more often 😀
I really want to check this out, but I think I’m going to wait until next year. I still haven’t seen Toy Story 2 or 3, and while I’m sure it’s not heavily continuity-dependent, I’d rather get to know the “new” characters in the films first.
Awesome! My wife had mentioned something about this but thanks for providing the date it is airing so my boy can watch it. The only downside I see is that is just a half hour long. Well prob 20 min after all the ads ;-(
However, I will take what I can get 😉
This would be an awesome family viewing time, Adam! Yeah, if only it were an hour-long so it’s at least 45 min of the actual show itself 😀
Eeeek! I love Toy Story, I will admit it!
Be proud of that Zoë! I love people who love Toy Story 😀
😀
Yes! I can’t wait for this! I’d have liked it if it was a little longer but considering how long it takes to make these things, I’ll happily settle for whatever we get 🙂
Yeah, it probably took them a year just to create a half-hour show! That’s why I really appreciate everything Pixar does!
Awesome, thanks for the heads up! I’ll have to set this to record… uhhh, for the kids 😉 I also loved Toy Story 3! So perfect.
I’m always a kid at heart so there’s a place for animated feature even when I’m 70 I think 😀
Ah! I wouldn’t have known about this if you had not post it. I’m definitely watching.
By the way, now you have me looking up videos of the Graham Norton Show. So funny!
Hey cool to be the one to let you know Niels! Yeah, Graham Norton Show is a hoot, there are a bunch of them on Youtube. I like the casual setting and he’s such a funny host!
I love Toy Story and this seems to be amazing. Sometimes I think that if they made endless series of Toy Story, I’d still watch each installment 😀
Haha. I love that Tom Hanks interview on Graham Norton. I wasn’t a big fan of Toy Story 3 (liked, but didn’t love), but I might give this special a look when it’s online.
