700th Post! Thanks for all of your support!

Happy Monday, everyone!! I’m thrilled to tell you that you’re reading FlixChatter’s 700th post!

I’ve always loved movies, but ever since I started this blog, I’ve grown to appreciate films even more and have learned so much from fellow cinephiles. Blogging has given me something to look forward to every day, which is such a blessing!

I want to take the time to thank my loyal supporters… those who’ve not only made blogging the past couple of years worthwhile but also fun and rewarding! I started this blog on a whim so to have made 700th post is just friggin’ awesome!

Firstly, let me thank my fabulous contributors Ted S., Paula G., Becky a.k.a Prairiegirl and Vince C. who’ve kindly shared their love of movies with me this past year… as well as give me a blogging break once in a while. Thanks for your comments here as well, friends… really, comments are what make the blogging world go around right? My eyes always light up every time I see a new comment when I check my email, so with that, I want to say a BIG THANKS to my loyal commenters the past year:

Also special thanks to the two who’ve always made my day whenever they stop by: Jack Deth & Dave (ackackattack). I always learn new things from each one of your comment, keep ’em coming, guys! 😀

Lastly, I also want to give shout outs to some of my new friends who’ve enriched my blogging experience: Claire, Tyler, Lesya, Andina, Markus, Iba, Nostra, Max, Amanda, etc.

Well, with this blogging milestone, I also would like to know what made you come back to FC… and what feature(s) would you like to see more of here? Please let your voice be heard and once again… THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

  1. That’s quite a milestone, Ruth. I’m very happy to be one of those loyal readers of FlixChatter. Congratulations!

p.s., what a perfect lead image for this post!

  2. Vince

Long live FC! Once I detox from serialized cable shows (i.e. Breaking Bad and the like) I’ll be able to watch more films and contribute again!

  3. I recently subscribed to your blog and I’ve really enjoyed all the posts and updates! I love film and enjoy feeling like I’m “ahead” with all the information. Keep blogging – you’re a good writer, and you have a lot of awesome stuff to say!

  4. Thanks for the shout out Ruth. I found you from the IMDb hit list (well done) and haven’t really found another movie blog that I enjoyed enough to stay with. I like the diversity and interesting choice of topics. And even though my tastes run a little dark, violent and cynical as opposed to yours (I think I’m very similar to TedS as far as tastes go) I like intelligence and passion that you and your bloggers have for films and all that they encompass. So congrats Ruth on your 700th post. Keep ’em coming.

I may have to start my own blog this week. I’ll get on that.

    Dave

    1. Thank you Dave… and thanks to IMDb!! They’ve been quite generous to me the past two years and I’m forever grateful that they brought people like you to my site! That’s the thing about films, we don’t have to have similar tastes to talk about movies… I still enjoy reading others’ posts even if I’m not interesting in seeing the films.

Hey, let me know when your blog is up and I’ll definitely check it out!!

  5. PrairieGirl

What an accomplishment, Flixy! Just keep on doing what you do… giving us enlightened, interesting, intriguing posts ;-D

    1. Thanks Becky, well with your help I can keep on going 😀 Thanks for always commenting and it’s more fun the fact that we share our love of movie boyfriends, he..he..

    1. [Bowing to you Jack] Thank you, thank you …

I’m so flattered that you made my blog one of your daily rounds, Jack, I appreciate every single one of your comments!!

  6. Lady dude, CONGRATS!!!

700! Yikes. That sounds daunting. I think I’m only at 500 right nowish, but then again I suck at the whole frequent blogging thing.

Although I don’t comment often, I check out this site a lot. You and your contributions have great writing styles and some superb articles (see: everything about festivals, latest article about documentaries and flopped flicks) and you’re quite friendly. So all in all, FlixChatter kicks ass, and here’s to another 700 posts, Ruth!

    1. I LOVE that you call me Lady Dude, ahah. Hey, 500 posts is awesome, man, plus you’ve been Freshly Pressed, I haven’t even got picked once by WP 😦

Hey, any comments are appreciated, man, I know everyone’s busy. Thanks for your kind words, Andy.

      1. claytonbroomesjr

Yes, I do so far. A sister passionate about movies. That’s all I need to see… :). I’ll be back for more for sure…

  7. Let me take a moment to gloat about being mentioned at the top of the list of FC’s loyal commenters. That’s right, you are envious right now, aren’t you Terrence, Scott, Julian and company???? MUAHAHAHAAHAH

Ahum… Congrats on 700 posts Ruth! Impressive achievement. Here is to 1000 posts now 😀

    1. I really appreciate the few hundreds comments you’ve bestowed on this blog, Cas! Even as your blog grows bigger and bigger, you still have time for this wee little blog of mine, so THANK YOU!

  8. Congratulations Ruth! I think you were a suggestion on Twitter and I started following you. Then I checked out your blog and I liked what I read. Plus, anyone who loves Jane Eyre is cool in my book.

    1. This proves that I LOVE Twitter!! 😀 Hey thanks Sherry, I’m so glad we share our love for period dramas… and dark, tortured soul heroes, ahah.

  9. Congratulations 🙂 And what has kept me coming back is the friendly atmosphere of your blog. Even though we don’t agree on everything i always feel my opinion is welcome here. i have tried my best to create a atmosphere like that on my blog

And i’ve only done 59 posts so far, so i’m nowhere near 700 yet 😛

    1. Hey blogging is not a race, Julian, I’m just glad that you’re blogging more often now. I do think your blog is open for discussion too, so I think you’ve done a good job. I really appreciate your support, I still remember corresponding w/ you a couple of yrs ago ever since you stopped by on my Sharlto Copley post 😀

      1. Yeah, i am trying to be more spontaneous with my blogging, although it has helped that my mom has been doing temporary work for the U.N. I still have a bunch of movies i want to review at some point..maybe at some point i will do like a mega review post or something

        1. I’m actually taking a cue from you about writing mini reviews. I’ll be writing three of them for next week. Yeah, you should do a mega review post 🙂

  10. Congratulations Ruth!

Two things that help keep me coming back: One is technical, in that you have a way to subscribe that sends me emails, instead of having to open or set up a specific blog reading application.

But the second is that once I get those emails, it is the interesting titles and the fact that you have original content, often taking a different perspective on new films (including indie films) and actors, which makes it stand out from the others.

    Congratulations again on your milestone!

    1. Hi MP, thanks for your kind words. I’m so glad I went with WordPress then, I really have no control about the subscription thing. I’m glad you like the variety, I guess you could call it random as well as I can’t seem to stick to a schedule, ahah. Most bloggers have the discipline posting certain things each day, but I don’t think I can stick to that 🙂

  11. Congrats! Let’s get wasted in the form of celebration .. I Hear Scottie’s home is empty and he has some booze 🙂 Let us trash his place in honour of yours, Flixy 🙂 He will be delighted…

    1. Thanks T, really appreciate your support, man. I’m so glad I’ve come to know you through blogging, who knows one day we’ll even meet up!

  12. Congrats for your 700th post, Ruth. I’m so glad I found your blog couple of months ago 🙂 I didn’t realize there’s a cool Indonesian lammies, thought I’m the only one! You have a very great blog 🙂

    1. Yeah it’s always nice to connect w/ a fellow Indo blogger. I think you & Novia are the only ones I’m connected with more regularly. Thanks for your kind words!

  13. 700 is a very big number to get to my friend and I am very proud of you. Your blog is always top of my list when it comes to a visit. And the sheer amount of comments you receive on a daily basis is a testament to how much we all love you xxx

I am coming up to 300 in 10 months so I am catching you up….maybe I post to much huh? HEHE

Thanks for the love too Ruth, you are a true friend x

    1. Thank you matey, it’s always awesome to see you pop by to visit. Your blog is tremendous, I mean you’ve done a hundred times more in a fraction of the time for me to get here. I LOVE FRC and it’s definitely part of my daily round. Keep up the amazing work, Scott!

  14. Hi Ruth, congratulations on reaching 700. Reading your comments section it is easy to see why Flixchatter is as popular as it is and why it is still going strong after 700 hundred posts. Well done to you Ruth, your passion really shines through in every post and I’m glad to know you through your blog. Here’s to another 700! 🙂

    1. Thanks Ronan, comments are new daily blessings now since I’ve started FC … and my readers have been kind. I’m glad I got to know you and Irina as well, my friend, hope we all continue to share our love for movies through blogging!

  15. Crikey! 700 posts is a terrific milestone. Like Castor said, here’s looking forward to reaching the big 1,000!

Thank you for the shout out 🙂 I love being part of such an international blogging network – you all have something interesting and thought-provoking to say!

    1. Yeah, I’m so glad to have ‘met’ fellow movie lovers from all over the world. The funny thing is, I think the majority of my readers are actually from out of the US 🙂

  16. Oh, wow! 700 posts, that is awesome!!!!! 😀 I can remember your 600th as if it was only yesterday! What a great, great blog you have here Ruth, a place I can always rely on for a break from the busy world of foreign and indie cinema that I have found myself stuck in. 700 posts is just marvellous. I bet in no time at all you’ll be at 1000!!!

    1. Thank you Tyler! I really appreciate that. I know our tastes are different but that’s the great thing about films right, it’s such a vast artform that we are likely to focus on certain genres. Variety is what makes blogging so fun!

  17. Thank YOU doll…i’ve had so much fun and met so many cool people and that wouldn’t have happened without you. Wishing you 7 times 700 more posts and all the best in the world Ruth 🙂

    1. Thanks Nostra, I’ve come to love your blog as well. You’ve always got some intriguing posts, and your ‘Many Faces’ series is the one I look forward to the most.

      1. I do my best to make them intruiging 😉

Yeah, a lot of people love that series and it’s the reason I keep doing them. They are a bit of work, but it’s usually interesting to find out in which movies some actors were, which you hadn’t realised the first time you saw them.

        1. Yeah I can imagine those posts take work. I mean, not only do you have to find the photos, but the you have to format them to your templates. But they sure are fun to read and look at.

  18. Congratulation Ruth 🙂
Your blog is newer than me but you almost catch up my posts 😉
I didn’t realize I have lots of comment in your blog. You are one of my favorite cinema blogs.

Hope you will never stop blogging

Ps. October is a special month for you and my Kame 😉

    1. Thanks Nov. Hey you should join LAMB for sure. It’s a great resource for us movie bloggers. I hope I’ll always have time to blog… though once I have a kid who knows if I can continue 🙂
