The Sun is shining… a WordPress Family Award

It’s been a while since I participate in a blog award thing-y, but my good friend Michael from It Rains… You Get Wet kindly bestowed me this beautiful award recently. Hey, who doesn’t like awards? Plus, it gave me a chance to nominate my fellow bloggers, so why not spread the love 😀

2013SunshineAward

One of the rules of this award… [with powers, comes responsibility as it were], is that I have to answer these 10 questions about myself, so here goes!

1. Favorite Actor

[who’s not a household name yet]

RArmitage_Window

Richard Armitage

The question is, why is he NOT a household name yet [sigh]

He’s my pick for the next Bond, Batman, Nathan Drake, futuristic Robin Hood… and pretty much any role that’d benefit from a deeply-masculine yet soulful hunk with acting chops to boot!

2. Favorite Food?

Oh, too many to name but I’d have to say Indonesian Fried Rice, complete with chicken satay, fried egg and shrimp crackers. YUM!

IndoFriedRice

3. Favorite non alcoholic drink?

Well I don’t drink so my indulgence is Starbucks’ iced chai or caramel macchiato, with whip cream on top. Yum!

4. Favorite Animal?

Oh that’s a toughie. I guess it’s a tie between cats and dogs, as I grew up with both growing up. I even had one of my kittens Jill (named after a character from an Aussie soap opera Return to Eden) that nursed on my Pekingese dog Floppy. She lost her mother and she thought Floppy was her mom!! I wish I had a photo of that.

5. Favorite number?

Hmmm, I don’t really have one but I like the number 7.

6. Favorite Color?

I’ve always been into cool colors, so blue, green, turquoise… but lately I’ve been obsessed with seafoam green!

SeafoamGreen

7. My Passion?

Well isn’t it obvious? 😀 Movies of course and writing/talking about ’em. I’m also into Fashion and Travel, as you can see in my Pinterest boards.

8. Favorite Day of the Week?

I love Fridays for obvious reasons, but also because my hubby & I always go out to dinner on Friday nites, followed by home cinema movie-watching after 😀

9. Favorite Flower?

I love non-traditional flowers, so anything but roses 😀 I guess if I have to pick just one, it’d be the Mokara Orchids as they’re so exotic and simply gorgeous! My late mom used to grow Orchids when I was growing up, so the flower always reminds me of her 😀

10. Favorite soundtrack from 2013?

Pacific Rim of course. Still obsessed with this one, it’s such a good workout music, too!

  1. Thank you for the award! 🙂 I think it’s nice that though you live in America, you still favorited Indo food (yeah, Indo bloods love rice!). I love it too, especially the pale ones that doesn’t use ketchup. I also love blue, but maybe comfortable is the word.

My movie-watching plans is to watch Pacific Rim or some other movies I’ve been put hold to watch this weekend.

    1. My pleasure! I love your blog Andina. Oh nothing beats Indo food!! I still miss all the snacks the most, lemper, resoles, bakwan, etc. I do like Thai fried rice too, but Indo ones are still the best!!

Oh hope you enjoy Pac Rim as much as I did!

  2. Thank you Ruth! You’re the best. I haven’t done one of these in a while so I’ll give it a whirl. May be a few days. Got some tough health news about my mother-in-law today so we will be spending time back and forth between home and hospital.

But as for movie plans I am seeing The Wolverine in the AM. Pretty anxious for that.

    1. Hi Keith! Yeah I haven’t done ’em in a while either but I told Michael I’d do this one 🙂

Oh no, sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. Hope she’s doing ok, praying for swift recovery.

Curious to hear what you think of The Wolverine!

  3. Love that theme song! I knew you’d pick something great like this. Anyway, it’s my honor to nominate you for such things, Ruth. You deserve all the accolades that come your way. You form that kind of loyalty and response from the community you’ve built and give support to. You’re welcome and thanks :-).

    1. You are TOO kind Michael. Thanks so much for all your support and kind words. Likewise my friend, your work and generosity inspires me every day!

      1. The only problem with him in the role is if it conflicts with the Hobbit which is also owned by Warner Bros. But The Hobbit ends in December 2014 so it probably won’t be an issue 😀

        1. But he’s under sooo much makeup in The Hobbit you barely recognize him, plus he’s playing a dwarf!! I want to see all 6’3″ inch of him actually shown on film, darn it! 😀 So no, not an issue for me at all on that front.

  4. Thanks Ruth! But my blog isn’t a WordPress blog, its blogger… haha! But I’ll still do it 🙂 Loved your choices here…. suddenly I’m attracted to seafoam green!!

    1. Ahah yeah I know, I don’t exclude non-WP blogger and it doesn’t say in the Rules that it has to be 😀 So yeah, hope you’ll still do it!

  5. Congrats on the award. And speaking of Pacific Rim, i never had the opportunity to watch it on the big screen. it didn’t come to my local theater for some reason 😦

And as for this weekend i will be visiting family

  6. Ted S.

That fried rice dish looks good, I don’t think I’ve tried Indonesian food yet. And yeah Armitage deserves more prominent roles in Hollywood and I do like him as the new Batman/Bruce Wayne, he actually looks the closest to the comic book character, appearance wise I mean. I just watched the animated movie, Batman: Year One and I thought of Armitage because the cartoon version of Bruce looks a lot like him.

I finally won free passes to see Pacific Rim at the IMAX so I hope to receive the tickets this weekend so I can go see it. If not, I hope to check out The Wolverine.

    1. Hi Ted! Well I wish I could point out to a place where you can get Indo food. Maybe one day I’ll cook something for our movie nite 😉

Glad to hear you agree about Armitage as Batman. I mean it’d be perfect I think for him to be cast alongside Cavill as he’s not very famous yet. He’s got the tortured soul thing down pat, plus he could do action, drama, etc. I gotta check out Batman: Year One!!

Hope you enjoy Pac Rim as much as I did! As for Wolvie, well let’s just say it WON’T be in my Best list of the year 😉

      1. Ted S.

Hey that would be great, yeah I just realized there aren’t any Indonesian restaurant here in the Twin Cities. I’m pretty sure they have some in the western states.

Year One is on Netflix, that’s where I watched it and I thought it’s pretty descent for an animated feature. It’s not that long either, just a bit over an hour. The plot focused more on Jim Gordon and Batman was a supporting character. It’s based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel and he wrote the screenplay for Darren Aronofsky before Nolan was hired to reboot the franchise. I thought the script was excellent and even though I loved Batman Begins, I think Aronofsky’s version would’ve been a much better film. But studio didn’t want to do a hard R-rated Batman flick.

Speaking of Aronoksky, as you know I’m still not happy that he left The Wolverine, his version would’ve been brilliant. But I’m pretty sure Mangold’s version is much better than Origins, I hope so anyway.

  7. Oh, thank you! I’m gonna do that one if only to have more Idris on my blog 🙂 Richard as futuristic Robin Hood sounds really interesting and seriously hot 😛

    1. Yay!! Yes, more Idris please 😉

Well there were talks on futuristic Robin Hood at some point and the first thing I thought of is THIS:

I mean Guy of Gisbourne in that all black leather get-up is futuristic-looking and yes, seriously HOT! 😛

  8. Thanks again for the award Ruth! 🙂 I never thought of it, but seafoam green is actually a very cool color. That dish looks delicious by the way. I’ll do a post soon. 🙂

    1. You’re welcome Josh! Yes sea-foam green is a gorgeous color, I’m obsessed w/ it all Summer. Glad you’ll be doing the post too!
