Happy Oscars Eve! Time for the obligatory predictions, it’s currently about 24 hours away until the 96th Oscar winners are announced.
Just like last year, I have actually managed to see nine out of the ten nominees. The one I haven’t seen is Killers of the Flower Moon (it’s nearly 3.5 hours long!) but hey, that’s not going to stop me from making predictions. The SHOULD WIN category is the one I’m rooting for this year, and as a reminder, you can head over to this post to see the full nominees.
I feel like this year the major nominees are a bit easier to predict. While Barbie won the Barbenheimer box office receipt, Oppenheimer is poised to sweep the Oscars with at least seven wins. Christopher Nolan has been nominated in the Oscars’ Best Director category twice previously, I think it’s safe to say this will be his year to win.
So I’m only listing the WHO WILL/SHOULD WIN picks in 18 categories below, but I did fill out the complete Oscar ballot in this PDF »

Just posted my recap/highlights, still high on Gosling’s potent #kenergy!!
I agree with a lot of your picks. I wouldn’t ignore Killers of the Flower Moon. Yes, it’s long but it’s worth it.
Oh I don’t ignore Scorsese’s film, I’m just not all that interested in it. Haven’t even seen the Irishman either.
Great predictions! I’m not sure whether I’m the only one but I am a little exhausted by how predictable the Oscars have become. At this point, it seems like a foregone conclusion that Oppenheimer is going to win Best Picture. I loved the movie but do feel it taking attention away from smaller far more deserving movies this year (ex. “Past Lives”). My review of Nolan’s masterpiece:
I only saw a couple of films that got nominated but I’d very surprised if Oppenheimer somehow got shutout or didn’t win a single award.
I hear ya Huilahi, in a perfect world I would LOVE for Past Lives to win of course, but I do think Oppenheimer is an excellent film that deserve to win. To be honest, I think it’s a much better film than the one that won last year which is an indie.
Yeah, it’s unlikely Oppenheimer will get shutout, I think Nolan is due for an Oscar by now.
