The sun is indeed shining… Sunshine Blogger Award

sunshinebloggeraward

Nothing like getting an award to bring a ray of sunshine to my day. It has been a pretty hectic few months for me and it’s only going to be crazier the closer it gets to filming time of my short in the Spring. I haven’t got time to blog but hey it’s always fun to do these types of posts, so THANK YOU Vinnie for nominating me!

As given, every award has a set of tiny rules for accepting it, here are the ones for Sunshine:

Post the award on your blog
Thank the person who nominated you
Answer the 11 questions they sent you
Pick another 11 bloggers (and let them know they are nominated!)
Send them 11 questions

Questions from Vinnie:

How often would you say you spend on your blog?

Well normally I spend 5-6 hours a week blogging, but nowadays I barely have time for that.

What has blogging taught you?

It taught me to see films with a more critical eye. I also learned a ton from filmmakers/talents I’ve had the privilege to talk to over the years. I also learn from fellow bloggers from their insightful articles/reviews.

Amy Adams or Natalie Portman?

amyadams

I like both but I find Amy Adams more interesting to watch.

Walks along the beach or romantic meal inside?

Walks along the beach, hands down.

Have you ever written in the nude?

Nope.

What film had the biggest emotional impact on you?

Can’t name just one. Jane Austen films, esp. Sense & Sensibility, always resonates with me.

hiddenfigures

But of recent ones, Moonlight and Hidden Figures got me all emotional.

What is your fondest memory from childhood?

Memories of traveling abroad with my late mom and two brothers. She was so full of life and quite adventurous, I’ll treasure those memories forever.

Is there any scene you would love to recreate from a movie?

Interesting question as I just finished the script of my theatre-themed short film. One scene I wish I could recreate is the extraordinarily-long shot in Birdman from the stage to the dressing room done in a single take (or at least seems like it was done in one take).

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

I see myself as [hopefully] a full time screenwriter/filmmaker. I’m making my first short film this year in the hope that I can turn into a feature one day.

What film have you been meaning to watch for a long time, but just haven’t got the chance to?

Boy there are tons. But the one that comes to mind is The Big Sleep, which I was supposed to watch last year as part of The Blind Spot series.

And in the style of Stuff and That, do you think I have a nice bum?

I honestly have no clue what this question is about, sorry!

  1. OMG thank you so much for nominating me, Ruth! I feel so special now :’)
These questions are so hard and because I want to give the perfect answer, I know it’ll take time. Time limit is allowed, right?
Also, your answers to the questions that you got were so good and well-thoughtout.

I’m so happy I found your blog and eventually got to make this virtual friendship. You’re a wonderful person and I genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, hope your short film turns out perfectly so that I watch it and brag about how I (kinda) know the writer of the film.

    1. Hi Shivani! Hey my pleasure girl, I’m glad you discovered my blog and I enjoy chatting movies w/ you! Oh yeah, no rush in answering these, just send me the link when you’re done or you answer ’em in the comments too!

Thanks so much for your support to the blog and film project, ahah well I doubt I’ll be famous, I just want to keep working. Film fuels my soul, so it’s great to be able to contribute to that art form in addition to appreciating other people’s work 🙂

  2. Thanks for the nomination Ruth! I’ll answer your questions if there’s time. Agree on blogging has taught me to see films with a more critical eye.

  3. Congrats on the award, Ruth! One film i would like to see a sequel to is Dredd. It’s too bad it didn’t make a lot at the box office because it has a pretty big following, becoming something of a cult film. Good luck on your short film!

  4. Thanks, Ruth!!! I hope you don’t mind me posting my answers here 🙂

What’s your favorite movie quote that nobody else seems to notice? I find myself always quoting Aliens or The Lost Boys. Can’t think of specifics, but no one gets me. Or Scrooged…”the DICKENS out of people….NOBODY gets me!”

If someone give you a $1 million dollar budget to do a film, what type of film or genre would you do? If it had to be a film, possibly a drama. If it was a free-for-all, maybe a web series or documentary??

In relation to question 2. Which non A-lister would you cast? Kirsten Dunst, although she’s A-list in my book.

Weekend getaway: Paris, London or Rome? London.

I was going to do a post on this but have no time to finish it. What’s the worst movie you saw in 2016? It wasn’t the worst movie-wise, but I was bored AF with Manchester by the Sea.

What’s one particular movie scene you recently saw that still sticks with you? The cremation scene in Captain Fantastic.

    Favorite cuisine? Spaghetti!

Chris Evans, Chris Pine or Chris Hemsworth? I’m impressed with Pine after seeing Hell or Highwater.

Name an actor/actress you’ve seen in more than 10 movies? Leonardo Dicaprio

See above. Name the movies. Gilbert Grape, Basketball Diaries, Romeo+Juliet, Titanic, Man in the Iron Mask, Catch Me If You Can, The Departed, Blood Diamond, Revolutionary Road, Shutter Island (to name a few 😉 )

Name a film you wish had a sequel. Hmm…I can think of many movies I wish HADN’T had sequels 🙂

    1. Hey Courtney, of course it’s totally fine to answer here.

Oh man, The Lost Boys! I’m an 80s kid 🙂

Oh I think Kirsten Dunst is an A-list actress.

We should meet up in London 😉

I have no desire to see Manchester By The Sea, that’s like my Boyhood from a few years ago which I still haven’t seen.

I think I’ve seen more than a dozen of Leo’s movie, I was a bit obsessed w/ him after Titanic. You should see him in Total Eclipse 😉

Mwahahaha, yeah there are too many movies w/ stupid, wholly-unnecessary sequels!!

  5. Thank for thinking of me! I’ll just answer here 🙂

    – What’s your favorite movie quote that nobody else seems to notice?
“The world moves for love. It kneels before it in awe” from The Village

    – If someone give you a $1 million dollar budget to do a film, what type of film or genre would you do?
If I can spend that $1 million on a time machine then I have something in mind….

    – In relation to question 2. Which non A-lister would you cast?
Oh we only need me another person who I think is an A-lister.

    – Weekend getaway: Paris, London or Rome?
    London

    – I was going to do a post on this but have no time to finish it. What’s the worst movie you saw in 2016?
Grimsby but at least it made me laugh

-What’s one particular movie scene you recently saw that still sticks with you?
Ed Harris’ big moment from Gone Baby Gone where he spills to Casey Affleck about planting the evidence on a guy once

    – Favorite cuisine?
    Thai

    – Chris Evans, Chris Pine or Chris Hemsworth?
After seeing Hell or…I’m gonna go with Pine

    – Name an actor/actress you’ve seen in more than 10 movies?
I think I saw Ed in about 30 so far….30 more just waiting for me to watch them

    – See above. Name the movies.
We don’t have that kind of time 🙂 But I saw 6 just this week and I write about them in RF

    – Name a film you wish had a sequel.
    Black Swan

    1. Hey, thanks for answering the questions here Margaret! Oh I love Thai food too, so we know where we’ll go when we meet up one day 🙂

I love that quote from The Village, I quite like that film from M Night.

I love that you’re so into Ed Harris now, he’s such a terrific actor. Well right now I’m actually crushing on a local actor, which is a new sensation for me as you actually get to meet and hang out w/ him in person! 😉
