I normally hate the adverts for a trailer, but at least it’s not an actual trailer for a trailer. But when I saw a tweet from @007, I gotta say I couldn’t wait to see it!
As a longtime Bond fan, I’m always excited when a new Bond movie came out, well except for the last two Brosnan movies as they look as dumb even in the trailers. Daniel Craig‘s Bond films not only brought back the grit and fortitude lost in Brosnan era, it’s also got that real sense of mystery and mystique, which is what one would expect in an espionage genre.
This teaser captured that sensibility perfectly:
A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.
With Bond 24, I love that the filmmakers brought back the enigmatic nefarious organization we’ve seen in the earlier Sean Connery movies. Yet there’s still that continuity of storyline from Casino Royale, the fact that we see Mr. White once again, still as cryptic and ominous as ever despite looking like he might’ve lost his eyesight.
“You’re a kite dancing in a hurricane Mr. Bond.”
Then of course we’ve got Christoph Waltz there towards the end. I’ve mentioned in my Spectre post here that he’s not playing Blofeld, but he’s obviously a powerful figure that might’ve had a key tie to Bond’s past as well. Can’t wait to see him going toe to toe w/ Bond.
Glad to see Sam Mendes back for directing duties. He shared on 007 official site a bit more about the plot of SPECTRE:
“The reasons I’m doing the second Bond movie are the reasons I would do any movie, really, which is all to do with the story. And in this movie, SPECTRE, what you have is a movie entirely driven by Bond. He is on a mission from the very beginning,” he says. “It’s about whether or not to pursue the life he’s always pursued, whether he matters and is he going to continue or not. And you’re going to have to come to see the movie to find out whether he does.”
Even from this teaser, we can expect to see an amazing cinematography from Hoyte Van Hoytema whose impressive work you can see in Her and Interstellar. Nice to see Thomas Newman scoring this too. Wish we didn’t have to wait until November to see it!

Surprised there was so little action, I guess it’s only a teaser though, with a longer trailer later on! The cinematography does look impressive, especially in the snow
They’re still filming so I suppose they don’t have the action scenes done yet. I can’t wait to see the full trailer, and for sure the movie will look amazing!

Oh sorry! I kept forgetting Tijuana isn’t that close to Mexico City. Well, still it’s cool that it’s filmed there though, and I think a Mexican actress was just added to the cast as a Bond girl.

Some trailers are simply more important than others. This one, fits that category. My husband and three sons will want to see this movie as soon as it comes out and the trailer will be very welcome since they cannot actually see the movie yet.

I am cautiously optimistic! I’ve made the mistake of trusting a trailer before and I’ll probably make it again but I like the darker feel to this one.

I was afraid Mendes would pass on directing this one but glad he didn’t.
Can not wait to see it on IMAX, it’s a perfect teaser, didn’t show too much and got enough glimpse of what the film will be about. I don’t want to say November can’t come fast enough since winter’s just got done but I want to see it now! Lol. I kind of wish they would move the Bond films to the summer season again.
Yeah I’ll definitely be seeing SPECTRE on Imax, esp w/ Hoytema doing the cinematography! Ahah I know what you mean about November, I mean we’re FINALLY in Spring time now. I’d love it if they release Bond movies in the Summer again, I wonder why they switch to Winter.
Back in 1995, MGM was going to release GoldenEye in the summer but they realized that so many scenes, especially the opening action sequence, were too similar to TRUE LIES, they ordered rewrites. Which of course delayed the summer release date so they moved it to November of that year and since it turned out to be a big hit, they’ve decided to release all the Bond films in either November or December. I remember the Connery’s Bond films were released in the summer and holiday season. But I think because On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and The Man with The Golden Gun failed at the box office when they opened in around the holidays, all of the Bond films were released in the summer in the 70s and 80s.

Yeah, after License to Kill gotten beaten so bad by Batman in the summer of 1989, I think it’s a good decision to release all the Bond films in the holiday season. Of course we the viewers want to see the new Bond flick as soon as possible, ha ha!
A pretty cool teaser that hints at some of the story while saving the action stuff for the next trailer I assume. I loved Skyfall so it’s safe to say I’m super excited for Spectre. 😀
Yeah I kinda of like that they keep it mysterious instead of all about action. I mean it’s a Bond flick so we can expect there’ll be tons of action in the movie, but it’s nice that they focus on the story more.

James Bond doesn’t float my boat at all, and Daniel Craig in particular fails to interest me. Of course, I’m not allowed to miss a single one. Seeing how lately I’m feeling like Christoph Waltz ruins everything he’s in, I’m not feeling optimistic.
Ahah, not allowed to miss a single Bond film? How come? So out of the ones you’ve seen, who’s YOUR fave Bond? My fave is not popular at all: Timothy Dalton. Oh no, Waltz ruins everything he’s in?? I think he’s magnificent in Inglourious Basterds, though granted I haven’t seen him in a lot of things since.
I live with big Bond fans. It’s a trade off. I don’t hate the series, I just wouldn’t normally gravitate toward it. Of course I’m partial to Sean Connery if it comes right down to it. And you’re right about Waltz, that was his movie, but he basically is just doing an SNL impersonation of himself all the time, it’s big and brash and irritating. I nearly had to walk out of Big Eyes because I couldn’t bear being in the same room with him!
I think having grown up w/ Bond flicks, I always love spy movies! I think most ppl who grew up w/ Connery is partial to him, and I get that, I just think his films are so dated. I heard Waltz is annoying in Big Eyes… well I probably skip that movie.
It’s a great teaser. I like the fact it seems to carry on the story from where we left off last time which is definitely interesting. After the success of Skyfall my hopes are high but I suppose we also have that problem of high expectations getting in the way of what promises to be a thoroughly entertaining ride.
Yeah I remember being super excited for Quantum of Solace and it was disappointing. But I have high hopes because of Mendes, so fingers crossed this’ll be as good as Skyfall!
As if I could be any more excited about seeing Spectre. The wait is far too long – but damn this trailer looks beautiful. Really enjoy how they’re forming a real storyline with all the events, going back to Casino Royale. It’s been crafted really well since the Bond franchise was “reborn”.
This movie looks amazing! Can’t wait to see it! 😀
