The parking lot in my office is much more sparse today as people are probably already on the road or up in the air on their way to their Thanksgiving celebration. Well, as we’re all about giving thanks this week, I thought I’d take the time to give thanks to EVERYONE who’s been a loyal supporter to FlixChatter!
I’m grateful that in my third year of blogging I’ve ‘met’ a lot of wonderful folks from all over the globe, some of whom I’ve actually met in person, too! Blogging has become so much a part of my life, in fact if you ask my hubby, it seems to have taken over my life, ahah. I really enjoy writing and chatting about movies and making connections with fellow movie lovers, so THANK YOU for every ‘LIKE’ that you’ve given me and every single comment you’ve dropped on each post. As you know I try to respond to every one of them and you know I truly appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to comment!

Fernando of Committed to Celluloid recently reviewed a Mexican drama that’s been submitted as Best Foreign Language Film for the 2013 Oscar, called After Lucia (Después de Lucía). It deals with a tough topic of severe bullying, but sounds like the performances are really worth a look.

I LOVE posts about Scene Spotlight and nobody does it better than Lady Sati! The combination of gorgeous photography and animated GIFs are so lovely. I LOVE this recent Scene of the Week in The Dark Knight Rises. I love that scene despite the logic-defying circumstances (but hey, it’s a comic-book movie after all), but I do have more questions after Bruce made the jump.
I mean, how in the world did Bruce make it back to the heavily-guarded Gotham full of Bane’s army with no money, no shoes, and worse of all no Alfred! Nolan has some ‘splainin’ to do in the DVD/Blu-ray feature! 🙂

The ever-so-prolific Josh at Cinematic Spectacle watches a bunch of movies week after week. Perhaps he has 36 hours in a day instead of 24? 😉 Well, he recently gave us a viewing update on 12 films he’s catching up on before year’s end. There’s a lot on there I haven’t seen, including the indie dramedy Your Sister’s Sister starring Emily Blunt and Rosemarie DeWitt. I should give that one a watch just for those two lovely ladies!

I enjoy our exchanges also Ruth. I’m currently trying to take a little step back, so I can recharge the batteries. I’ve a list of reviews to write that are as long as my arm but I will keep at. I managed to do it on Rotten Tomatoes for a few years before I started my blog so I don’t see why I can’t keep it up. It’s probably more difficult keeping up with everybody else’s stuff rather than my own. Unfortunately, it’s getting more difficult to read everything. Anyway, I’ve just posted My Movie Alphabet and hopefully have a review up tomorrow as well. Not bad for being burned out eh? 😉

Since feasting with my older sister and niece won’t happen until Friday, Thanksgiving Day will probably be devoted to laundry, a personal ‘Frefly’ marathon on DVD. Food preparation and catching a favorite Dick Van Dyke, Barbara Feldon holiday comedy ‘Fitzwilly’ (1967) late at night.

I used to always watch Plains, Trains and Automobiles during Thanksgiving night, but I don’t have it on BD so I won’t be able to watch it this year. Since I have a few days off and caught up with my work, I’ll probably watch some BDs I’ve bought and maybe finally The Guns Navaronne that you lend me. Lawrence of Arabia came out on BD earlier this week, I might pick it up and watch it.
Glad you finally got a press pass, it’s kind of nice to see films a few days or weeks before it opens to the public. Years ago when I had a film blog, I got to see Titantic months before it opened in theaters, some of the effect weren’t even done yet. They invited online film reviewers, critics and a few lucky viewers to the secret screening. I thought the movie was going to ruin Cameron’s career because I didn’t really care for it and the movie just dragged on and on. Of course I was dead wrong.
Hey Ted, it was awesome to see you last Wednesday! Oh yeah, do watch Guns of Navarone, that was one of my fave Greg Peck’s movies. Oooh if you decide to buy the Lawrence of Arabia BD, may I borrow it? 😉 I actually rewatched Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol last night, still a lot of fun!

Yeah it’s nice to catch up in person with you and the rest of the gang. Not sure how long I’ll be at Findlaw though, the work is not what I call exciting or creative, lol.
Sure I’ll lend you Lawrence of Arabia, I’m waiting for the price to drop. The price is way too high right now for a movie that’s 50 years old. I waited a while to get Lean’s other film, The Bridge on the River Kwai and it only cost me $7. Hopefully Lawrence’s disc will drop to price range soon.
I’ve watched Ghost Protocol a few times, it’s a great fun flick. Let’s hope the next one will be as good or better.

It’s one of the weakest Pixar entries for sure, but I enjoyed it a lot and loved the animation. It was fun, funny and surprisingly poignant.
