2024 Oscar Nominations are less than 24 hours away – My Final Predictions

Oscars-predictions-24

Happy Oscar Nominations Eve, everyone! I don’t usually predict the nominations, but I feel like this year I have a slightly better idea as to which movies and which actors might get nominated. Some are guaranteed, and of course, there are plenty that are wild cards. I mean, that’s part of the fun of making predictions, right? Now, I haven’t even gotten around to posting my Top 10 of the year, though I have drafted a pretty final list of which movies would make the cut, so I’ll post that later this weekend.

Now, the Academy Awards allows 10 movies to be nominated for Best Picture. That doesn’t mean there WILL be 10 films nominated, surely it’ll be between 5-10, but I’ll still predict that there will be 10 nominees anyway, so without further ado, here are my predictions in most categories:

So what are YOUR predictions and who are you rooting for?

  1. I have a bad feeling that The Sound of Freedom might get an Oscar nod for Best Picture because of its box office success. I really hope that doesn’t happen and I’m also hoping that Diane Warren doesn’t get nominated.

    1. Oh I very much doubt Sound of Freedom would get nominated. Haven’t seen the film but it doesn’t seem like the kind of movie that Academy voters would go for. As for Diane Warren, well she’s been nominated a bunch of times before, so there’s a chance she’d get in again. I haven’t even heard of the song she made nor even know what movie it’s for, ahah.

  2. Ted Saydalavong's avatar Ted Saydalavong

As usual, I somehow thought the Oscars already happened. Lol! But it’s always fun reading your predictions even though I only saw some of the films that will get nominated. I guess my predictions are Nolan will finally get an Oscar for directing and Oppenheimer will win best picture. I don’t see any other films can upset it since it was a huge box office hit and got rave reviews.

    1. Yeah Nolan’s directorial win seems to be a lock at this point, the only one that might take it away from him would be Yorgos. If Greta had been nominated as well, there’s a likelihood she might get it but unfortunately she’s snubbed!
