Ok so it’s one day before Oscars telecast tomorrow night, so I’m obviously kinda late to the party, but what the heck. I suppose, before those envelopes are opened, it’s still fair game, right?
I actually haven’t seen ALL of the nominees, but hey, that hasn’t stopped me from making predictions in years past, so it’s not going to stop me this year, either 🙂 Also, in case you’re wondering, this prediction is based on gut instinct, so not exactly scientifically based. The SHOULD WIN category is who I would like to win, as in the one I’m rooting for this year (except for in categories where I have not seen ANY of the nominated films).

Having seen little of the nominees, there’s only 2 things I want to see. Another win for NIN and for Glenn Close to lose…. again.
At least Close can sigh a relief for not winning a Razzie as she lost to Maddie Ziegler for that awful film Music that also gave Kate Hudson and SIA awards for Worst Actress and Worst Director respectively. Ziegler gets a pass because she was new to acting and didn’t know what SIA wants. Hudson and SIA however… they should never do films ever again and having just watched The Falcon and the Winter Soldier…. I can see now that her half-brother is clearly a way better actor than her.
Ahah, I kinda feel bad for Glenn Close now, though I haven’t seen Hilbilly Elegy nor would I watch it anytime soon.
I didn’t realize she was nominated for a Razzie! I think only a few people who are nominated for Oscar AND Razzie at the same time right? Did Sandra Bullock get the ‘honor’ a few years ago??
Yeah, I’m quite impressed w/ Wyatt Russell as a character I love to hate in TFATWS. He seems like a nice guy in interviews too!
Yes, a decade ago as she won an Oscar for The Blind Side and before that, won a Razzie for All About Steve.
I remember her being a good sport and actually came to Razzie ceremony w/ a bunch of All About Steve dvds 😀
And like Halle Berry, she can accept the fact that she made a shitty-ass film.
I haven’t seen everything either, but these look like good picks. I have two ballots because I’m really not sure about Adapted Screenplay and a couple of the others. I think ANOTHER ROUND is a lock precisely because it depicted actions that people couldn’t do! Good luck, Ruth!
I actually just saw ANOTHER ROUND last night and it’s really good! I thought Mads’ performance was Oscar worthy as well. So which film/actor are you rooting for this year, Paula?
I was so hoping that BAFTA would go against the tide and pick Wolfwalkers but it didn’t happen. I guess it has no hope now for tonight but it can’t stop me dreaming!
I was wondering that since Wolfwalkers’ theme is an allegory of resistance to British occupation in Ireland, perhaps that kinda puts off the Brits? If that’s the case, that’s too bad as it displays such an amazing artistry.
Just like every year, I’m so out of the loop when it comes to Oscars. Since I only saw one movie from the best picture nominations, I don’t have much opinion about any of these actors that got nominated.
On the best visual effects category, I hope The Midnight Sky will win over Tenet. I’m not saying that Tenet didn’t look great but I want it to win out of spite. I really despise Nolan’s ego trip film. Lol!
