We’re going to Disney World!!

Hi everyone! This is going to be a short post as I’m about to leave to the airport in a few minutes… en route to Disney World!! It’s my husband and my birthday gift to each other, as our birthdays is about a month apart.

We’re going to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, and the two rides we cannot wait to get on is the Rise of the Resistance at Galaxy’s Edge and the Avatar’s Flight of Passage, respectively.

I’ve heard so many amazing things about the Rise of the Resistance ride and I’ve watched all kinds of videos from Disney blogs out there. Per Wiki, the construction of the attraction posed unprecedented technical challenges. Not only does the ride contain 65 Audio-Animatronic figures, but the ride building itself required the largest concrete pour in the history of Disney Parks. More than five million lines of code control the various aspects of the ride. It has been called a “technical masterpiece”

I’ve also been curious about Pandora – The World of Avatar, esp the Flight of Passage ride. It’s a 3D flying simulator attraction that allows guests to take flight on a native mountain Banshee and soar across the landscape of Pandora.

Per Wiki, Avatar’s executive producer Amy Jupiter said “Everything you see in the attraction’s main show was original to this production. We were fortunate to be able to use the model and texture assets from the first film during our templating/visualization process. We were also able to use animation cycles for our [background] characters.”

There’s also the Na’vi River Journey that I’m hoping to ride on… I remember being in awe of the world of Pandora when I first saw Avatar a decade ago, so it’ll be fun to revisit that world in a whole different way!

I can’t wait to be a kid again for a few days. I won’t be posting anything until Wednesday… hey it’s my vacation, so I’m leaving my laptop at home.

Disney World, here I come!!!!

Have you been to Disney World, or taken either of these rides? If so, let me know your experience and if you have any tips, do share!

I went to Disney World ages ago, in the early ’80s, right as EPCOT was opening and once more, and I know it has changed exponentially since. But spending time at Cocoa Beach and up and down the coast started my love affair with FL. Enjoy St. Augustine too and have an awesome trip, Flixy!

    1. Oh man, you are so right Steven, FL drivers are the worst!! But thankfully we only drove one of the three days we were there, most of the time spent inside the Disney parks.

  2. Happy birthday to the both of you and have fun! I’ve never been to any of the Disney theme parks, my parents never took me there when I was young, mostly because they can’t afford to take me and my brother sister. Lol! Hopefully when you guys are there, the place won’t be too busy, I heard it’s crazy busy all the time. But with the current Coronavirus scare, maybe some people are staying away from theme parks.

    1. Thanks Ted! I hope one day you get to go to one of the Disney Parks, esp. Galaxy’s Edge. Even as a casual Star Wars fan, I was in awe of the amazing world they built and the Rise of the Resistance ride was simply amazing! We almost didn’t get on it (we were placed on what’s called Boarding Groups, and we were #95 and only up until group #59 was guaranteed for the day). So we were ecstatic when our boarding group was called around 3pm!! It was still super busy despite the Coronavirus scare, who knows if they’d ever get affected by it.

      1. Maybe one day if I have decided to settle down, married and have a child, that’s a big IF, I’ll take my little one to this place. Lol!

Glad to hear you guys had fun, too bad it’s still super busy. Maybe the scare hasn’t hit theme parks yet. I was supposed to go to Berlin this week for video shoots at a conference but they cancelled the last minute. I was also supposed to go to Singapore and Hong Kong for more shoots later this month but of course those trips has been cancelled too. Hopefully this scare will calm down soon.

    1. Hi Getter, perhaps the Disneyland Paris is the closest one to you? I haven’t been there but I heard it’s amazing as well. Hope one day you get to visit, I love feeling like a kid again even for just one day 😀

    1. I love rides too, though as I get older, I don’t have the heart for the more robust roller coasters. But the Rise of the Resistance ride at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge was truly amazing!!
