INCEPTION teaser poster revealed …

Wow, it’s been a busy week in Hollywood! What with the Golden Globe nominations, Robin Hood trailer and now THIS. Yet another one of my top ten must-see flicks of 2010 gets a brand spankin’ new poster.

Hmmm, looks familiar? The blue-ish hue, the skyscrapers surrounding the hero in the middle, even the font… does that remind you of anything? Well, take a peek at these previous posters from Christoper Nolan’s last movie. Movieline also confirmed my initial thoughts of the poster, though it doesn’t mean I lose interest in seeing the flick. Far from it in fact. Nolan sure knows how to tease, as the trailer back in August didn’t reveal much but just enough to wet the appetite of movie geeks like me.

For those just tuning in, Inception is billed as a mind-bending contemporary sci-fi thriller, the synopsis sounds mystifyingly fascinating: A thriller set within the architecture of the mind about a CEO (DiCaprio) who is involved in a blackmailing scandal. Hmmm, does it involve a flood perhaps? A virtual flood?? Who the heck knows, the whole thing is shrouded in secrecy. But Sir Michael Cain was brave enough to defy the ironclad rule as he revealed to Empire what his role’s supposed to be: “I play a professor who’s teaching a guy science,” Sir Michael told of us of his fourth Nolan collaboration. “It’s Leonardo diCaprio. He’s going off to do a science project and he speaks to me before he goes.” Not to be outdone by Sir Ridley, Nolan’s flick also boast an all-star cast. Besides Caine and DiCaprio, it’s got Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Tom Berenger, Ken Watanabe, and Tom Hardy.

The viral marketing campaign for the flick has begun. Basically, the poster itself is the reward you get for completing a web-based maze game at YourMindIsTheSceneOfTheCrime.com, accessible via the updated official Inception website. You’d need to download a Unity Web Player to be able to play it though, so if you’d rather not bother, take a glimpse of what the game looks like here.

What do you think, folks? Are you diggin’ the poster… or the movie itself for that matter?

  1. Yep, exactly. That’s why I put the link to The Dark Knight posters 🙂 It especially resembles the Joker one, but I wonder if it’s intentional?

I’m horrible…I totally skimmed past your writing to leave my comment. Don’t I just totally suck??

While I find the poster just “okay”, and as mentioned before – familiar, I was quite taken by the teaser for this film when I saw it back in July. Christopher Nolan is yet to misfire in my opinion, so I’m almost always on board with his movies the moment they get announced.

    1. He..he.. No biggie, I do that sometimes, too 🙂

Yeah I’m with you about Nolan, he’s the only director so far whose movies have yet to disappoint me. Hope that trend continues with this one. The story is definitely intriguing though, not to mention the amazing cast!
