Happy April, everyone!! 🌹 🪷 🌻 🌷 We’ve made it to Spring, woo hoo!! I know I said this every month, but March felt like a breeze. The weather has been a roller coaster! We got hit with a major snowstorm earlier this month, which took my hubby and me nearly an hour to shovel out of; then, a week later, it was in the early 70s! We should be used to 40-50 degree swings by now, but still, it was crazy!
In any case, here is what I saw last month:
MARCH VIEWINGS ON LETTERBOXD
(In the order of my rating)
The two best films I saw this past month are documentaries, followed by two international films, I Swear (Scotland) and My Father’s Shadow (Nigeria). This month’s movies are quite a mixed bag overall, with some real duds.
I wanted to watch a movie by the late Rob Reiner, but unfortunately, I chose poorly, as The Story Of Us is awful despite having a great cast of Michelle Pfeiffer and Bruce Willis. In fact, it’s the worst film I’ve seen this month; I’d give it a 1/5 rating.
The two rewatches are Roger Moore’s Bond flicks, For Your Eyes Only and Moonraker, which are very silly but entertaining.

Bridgerton S4 & Night Agent S3
I didn’t get to see as many movies in March as I binged on a couple of series on Netflix. These two series couldn’t be more different from each other, but hey, variety is the spice of life.
Bridgerton S4
I skipped S3 of Bridgerton; I just wasn’t interested for whatever reason. But S4 features a heroine of Asian descent, Yerin Ha, so I was intrigued. Plus, I think Luke Thompson‘s Benedict is the best-looking one of the Bridgerton boys (sorry, Jonathan Bailey!).
The story of Sophie Baek is basically a Cinderella story. The Shondaland writers clearly ran out of ideas, but at least they added a couple of minor twists to the tale as old as time. The chemistry between Luke and Yerin is the highlight; it feels like a soulful connection rather than mere lust. There are some genuinely steamy, intimate moments, but they aren’t sleazy or cheap. In fact, the bathtub scene is really sweet and heartfelt.
I hope the Australian-Korean Yerin Ha lands more roles after this. She’s got such a strong screen presence and adds a lot of depth to her character, Sophie. Meanwhile, it’s also fun seeing Katie Leung from Harry Potter portray an evil stepmother

The Night Agent S3
The Night Agent continues to be one of my favorite Netflix action series, and season 3 is the strongest one yet. Gabriel Basso is perfectly cast as the hero Peter Sutherland, and he’s cut from the same cloth as Harrison Ford in the Jack Ryan movie series. He’s stoic, no-nonsense, and gritty, with a strong moral code. He even gets a ‘Jack Ryan moment’ with the US president towards the end, a variation of the ‘I don’t dance’ declaration in Clear and Present Danger.
I love the first episode in Istanbul. I kind of wish they expanded the location to more episodes, but the story is even more grounded than the previous two seasons. The plot is filled with massive conspiracies involving the highest echelon of government (what else is new?). The ensemble cast is pretty strong here. My favorites are Fola Evans-Akingbola (she’s a series regular now, yay!), Genesis Rodriguez, and Stephen Moyer, in that order. I’ve never seen Moyer in anything previously; he’s really good here as a meticulous assassin.
This is the first series created by Shawn Ryan that I’ve seen so far, but he’s no stranger to gritty cop and crime series like The Shield, and S.W.A.T. Can’t wait for more of The Night Agent; glad it’s been renewed!!
52 Films By Women – 2026 Challenge
I am once again participating in this challenge. Per Women In Film (WIF) organization, the basic rules are simple: watch 52 films directed by women within one year and share what you watched on social media, using the hashtag #52FilmsByWomen to spread the word and get more people talking about the women filmmakers that don’t always get attention.
I kept up with the strong viewing of films #directedbywomen last month with 6 new movies!! So that brings the tally so far to 18 out of 52, so only 34 more to go, and we’re still so early in the year, woot!!
Anyhoo, I ranked the movies on Letterboxd; you can follow my #52FilmsByWomen list as I will be updating it regularly. I have a good feeling I might be able to at least meet the 2025 tally of 62.
MARCH MOVIE(S) OF THE MONTH
MR. NOBODY AGAINST PUTIN and THE CHAPLAIN & THE DOCTOR
Two of my best films I saw this month were documentaries. Mr. Nobody Against Putin deservedly won the Best Documentary Feature at the Oscars last month. As for The Chaplain and the Doctor, it’s a beautiful and poignant portrait of unlikely friendship and is one of the most inspiring films I’ve watched in ages. It’s playing at MSPIFF 2026 later in April.

FLIXCHATTER FILM BLOG 
Moonraker is silly but I like the film. For Your Eyes Only is one of the 2 James Bond films I re-watched last month as I just love that film. Especially for the theme song by Sheena Easton. I am convinced that if anyone insults Manchester United around her….. someone is going to die. 😆😆😆😆😆
What’s the other Bond film you watched last month? I’m glad the Bond flicks are on Netflix; so convenient.
Ahah, I had to look up the Sheena Easton thing, I didn’t know Mancester United used the modified version of her hit song 9 to 5 (Morning Train), that’s funny!
License to Kill which is a top 10 Bond film for me.
Yaaassss!! You know how much I love the criminally underrated Timothy Dalton as Bond. I also think Robert Davi is one of the best Bond villain, not to mention young Benicio Del Toro as his henchman!
Hi Ruth, out of your March list I’ve watched only 5: I Swear, The Perfect Neighbor, Mercy and the two Bond movies. Finished reading Project Hail Mary and will see the movie soon. The best films I watched last month would surely be rewatch of To Kill a Mockingbird and Witness.

Oh, To Kill A Mockingbird is a classic. I was obsessed with Gregory Peck for a time and watched a ton of his films; that one is definitely one of his best. I haven’t seen Witness, that’s the one with Harrison Ford, right?
Great posts as always. March was definitely an interesting month for movies. I didn’t get a chance to see many movies but of the ones I saw I loved “Project Hail Mary” the most. I am a huge fan of Ryan Gosling and have always adored his work as an actor. I felt this film was a fantastic showcase for his talents demonstrating his ability to command a movie on his own. I was surprised by the emotions that it got out of me getting me to laugh, feel awe and even cry. It’s definitely my favourite film of the year so far. I’m hoping it gets awards recognition though its chances don’t seem to be great being an early release.
Here’s my thoughts on “Project Hail Mary”:
Hey Hasan! I had been anticipating Project Hail Mary and it lived up to the hype! I too laughed and cried watching it, love the bond between Gosling’s character and Rocky. It’s one of my faves of this year so far, and I think it might garner some major awards, for sure Critics Choice and Golden Globes, not sure about Oscar but hey, things seem to have changed with Sinners. Movies that typically got overlooked by the Academy won big this year, so you never know!
I hope this weekend’s rain and snow storm will be the last here, I want more sun and warm weather.
I’ve never watched Bridgerton but I looked up who Yerin Ha is and I hope she gets cast in Michael Mann’s Heat 2. In the book, there’s an Asian female lead and I think she could be perfect for the role. Now, she’s way younger than Leo but Leo is playing a character that’s in his 30s since the story took place in the late 90s and 2000.
New movies to me last month were Peaky Blinders, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice, Predator: Badlands (I got super bored with it) and War Machine. I rewatched some movies in 3D. I got Mission: Impossible – Fallout in 3D and I was shocked at how great the 3D looked in that film. I really enhanced the experience, especially those big action scenes. Also, watch Mad Max: Fury Road in 3D, it’s my top 5 films when it comes to 3D effects.
I enjoyed The Night Agent season 3 too but I feel like Netflix has been doing lost of cost cutting. The action scenes didn’t look as grand and the big finally chase in the last episode was to small to me, I wanted to see something big to close out the episode. I finished season 2 of Paradise and watched episode 1 of DareDevil season 2. I watched a few episodes of Monarch but it’s getting kind of boring to me, not sure if I will continue watching it.
Hey Ted, I think this rain and snow won’t stick even if it happens, probably more of a sleet but still, I hope we’re done with this wintry stuff soon!
I really like Yerin Ha, it’d be so awesome if she gets noticed by major film casting agents! I’d love for her or Greta Lee (from Past Lives) for that role in Heat 2. Greta is slightly older than Yerin, but both are gorgeous and talented!
Hey I just saw Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice, it was silly but entertaining. Saw Predator: Badlands in February, I actually liked it a lot more than you. It was funny, and the action was great. It’s probably my fave Predator movies.
I’m hoping to catch up with Daredevil S2 and also the latest Night Manager, but probably skip Monarch as even the previous season was kinda meh to me.
Oh right, I forgot about Greta Lee. I don’t know if she can do a good British accent if she’s cast in Heat 2 though. The character is supposed to be Taiwanese/Peruvian but it was mentioned in the book that she spent most of her time in England studying there, so she has a British accent. One other actress I thought of is Jessica Henwick, who did grow up in England and has a real British accent.
Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice has its moments but I got bored with it half way through. It’s the typical action comedy that Hollywood produced lately, many of them has potentials but couldn’t deliver. I did not like where this new Predator franchise is heading, I think they’re making it more kid friendly now. After Prey and Predator: Killers of Killers, which were awesome, I thought it was going to be similar but I didn’t care for any of the characters in the movie.

Ahah, the original is fun in a campy way. I feel like it’s an entirely different movie than this one. Have you seen Badlands? I enjoy the rapport between the Predator and Elle Fanning’s character, so fun!
Mr. Nobody is a great doc! I really want my son to watch it too. I think teens and kids could really benefit from seeing how everything in there plays out.
Oh absolutely! If your son is around the age of the kids portrayed in that Russian school, it’d really be eye-opening to see just how fortunate we are here in the US. Things are dire here but nowhere near as terrifying as what the Russian citizens had to endure; it really puts things in perspective for me.
