Happy brrr month!! Can’t believe it’s already September! Glad it’s a three-day weekend and I will be going to the movies tomorrow to see The Equalizer 3! It’s going to be a record-breaking weekend weather-wise, with temps projected to reach 100 tomorrow, so it’s the perfect time to cool off inside an air-conditioned theater!
I’ve been dreaming of Venice & Colorado as my Twitter, um X and Insta timelines are littered with posts about movies currently premiering there: Ferrari, Saltburn, Poor Things, Maestro, and The Bikeriders are top 5 things I can’t wait to see later this year!
Anyhoo, here’s what I watched last month:

TV SERIES
I am currently watching Star Wars: Ahsoka + Only Murders In The Building (S3). I’m really enjoying the latter, which gets better every season, plus they’ve got Meryl Streep this time around! Stay tuned for my review of Ahsoka dropping next week!
So I’m continuing the 52 Films By Women challenge I started on International Women’s Day a few years ago. Per Women In Film (WIF) organization, the basic rules are simple: watch 52 films directed by women within the course of one year and share what you watched on social media, using the hashtag #52FilmsByWomen to spread the word, and get more people talking about the women filmmakers that don’t always get attention.
Thrilled that I got to see seven movies #directedbywomen last month, woo hoo!! Skater Girl, Miss Americana, Otherhood, The Pod Generation, LOU, Carmen, and The Magician’s Elephant. I should be able to complete all 52 movies even by the end of November!
August 2023 MOVIE OF THE MONTH

I’m not really into sports, so I didn’t think I’d pick a sports-themed documentary as my movie of the month, but The Saint of Second Chances is that good!! I posted the trailer of this documentary here, and it’s scheduled to drop on Netflix on September 19. It’s a must for baseball fans, but highly recommend this for anyone who loves an uplifting and rousing true story about love and redemption. Stay tuned for my full review closer to its release date.
So what did you see in AUGUST and which one(s) are your favorites?
…
The best thing I saw this past month is Oppenheimer as that is just a tremendous film. 100 in Minnesota… that is wrong.
Yeah!! Oppenheimer was my July Movie of the Month! It’s really an amazing feat from Nolan. We didn’t reach 100 today but it might tomorrow 🥵
Oh, I hope your air conditioner works well. Goddamn you climate change!
I’m only at 35 for my 52 Films by Women goal for the year. I need to get cracking.
Oh you’re still well on your way to completing 52 Films by Women! I’m only 6 movies ahead of you 🙂
I assume this will be the last few days of the hot temps of the year. I look forward to the fall season.
Since I saw The Equalizer 3 on Thursday, it qualified as the only new film I saw in theater last month. Lol! I did watch a bunch of movies at home. Mostly rewatches. Watched Fury Road in 3D and Atmos, haven’t seen it in a while. Then rewatched SpiderMan Homecoming and Far From Home in 3D. It’s too bad that 3D has died out because all of those films looked amazing in 3D. I started on Ahsoka and finished a new season of Justified.
I sure hope this weekend is the last 90 degrees temps, I don’t mind 80s but this is just waaay too hot.
I just saw The Equalizer 3 this afternoon (the perfect time to escape the heat) and I enjoyed it even more than the past 2 movies!! LOVE the Italian setting and the script is definitely tighter than the 2nd one. Oh I love rewatching FURY ROAD, I bet it looks even more amazing in Dolby Atmos Theater.
Stay tuned for my review of Ahsoka ep 1-3 dropping shortly 😉
