I love quad posters. They’re usually more interesting that the typical vertical format and this one is no different. I thought that the first official poster looked terrible, it’s definitely one of those cases when bad posters happens to good movies. This one however, is regal looking version worthy of an Oscar contender!
The historical drama Colin Firth as King George VI and Geoffrey Rush as speech therapist Lionel Logue, who helped the King overcome a stammer as he led the country through war. I’ve been wanting to see the movie ever since the trailer came out last month. I was hoping to squeeze this movie in over the Thanksgiving break but it wasn’t playing anywhere near me. Bummer! Everything I’ve been hearing about this movie just fuels my anticipation. It currently stands at 92% on rottentomatoes which seems to be in line with the stellar buzz coming out of film festivals all year. If only this had premiered at TCFF last Fall 😦
Well, has anyone seen this film? If so, what did you think?
Haven’t seen it, definitely want to see it ;-D
Me too! Unfortunately, I just checked again and it’s not playing anywhere in MN. Dang it, why is it so easy to see crapola like Faster but good ones like this isn’t available! Grrrr!
I’m not entirely sure why the lighting on the two sides of the poster is different but I’m willing to bye it. I do like that they airbrushed Colin Firth but still kept some defining features of his (this whole no defining features, alien face, craze is weirding me out).
Still, a major step up over the first one. Leaps and bounds better. Not even close. That first one made me sad.
Yeah I hate it when they over-photoshop the actors that they almost look like aliens! At least here you still know it’s Colin and Geoffrey though obviously their skin probably isn’t that smooth 🙂 That first one looks like they had their intern design it really fast and that person could only find one of Geoffrey grinning like an idiot… it completely threw me off. So I’m glad they rectified the situation. Are you excited for the movie, Univarn?
I am excited for it, but I doubt it’ll be coming to NC until the end of the year which annoys me.
I know! I kept looking for it since Thanksgiving but it’s not playing in MN either. Heh, I might be peeved enough to make a rant post about this… which I rarely do 😦
I, too, am very interested in seeing this one! Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush?!! Seems like a pretty solid win to me!
The cast definitely makes this enticing for me, though I generally like movies about British royals.
so how many Oscars do you reckon the KING will get?
Oh boy, I’ve never been good on Oscar predictions and the ones I hope to win never does! In any case, I hope Colin and Geoffrey will at least get a nod. I know Andrew @ Encore Entertainment would love for Helena to finally get her Oscar 🙂
I would also love for Helena to get an Oscar, she should’ve gotten one million years ago!
lightyears better than the American photoshop botch-job that’s everywhere now. hopefully catching this tomorrow!
Lucky you! I’m going to have to check again if it’s playing near me, but you’re in NY right? I’m jealous that indie stuff are always playing there first!
Any poster with Colin Firth on it is immediately beautiful!
Really looking forward to this one!
Agreed! He’s like fine wine isn’t he?
I’ve heard about the anticipation but I’m not the kind of person that easily be anticipated by people, I have to see it for myself…and I’m anticipated after seing the trailer 2 weeks ago. I really want to see it, but it hasn’t arrived here yet 😦
I so wanted to go to cinema to watch something, but all that I want to watch is not here yet .
I’m not either, Nov, unless of course the cast already appeals to me then those movie become ‘critics-proof’ of sort 😀 I’m sure you understand what I mean.
It’s only playing in limited release here too, Nov, so we’re in the same boat.
