Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Hope it’s been a lovely day for you, wherever you are and whatever your love life is like. I actually don’t make a big fuss about V-day generally, especially the older I get. I actually told my hubby not to get me flowers this year, I mean, I still have a huge bouquet of roses from my dear brother for my birthday a few days ago, I wouldn’t know where to put another one.
In any case, since I think in terms of movies, V-day always makes me think of favorite romantic pairings on screen. I’ve listed my top 10 three years ago, and the pairing of Nicole Kidman & Ewan McGregor in Moulin Rouge! is still my fave to this day!
Well, today I’m going to highlight ten of my recent favorite on-screen romantic couples, both on film and TV. Pictures do speak louder than words, and so here we go…

Hmm, let’s see… Ella & Kit, Belle and John, Dr. Banner & Romanoff…. that’s all I can think of. I haven’t seen a lot of romantic films.
Hi Steven, unfortunately Banner & Romanoff is perhaps my least fave on screen couples. But hey, glad you love Ella & Kit and Belle & John! 😀
Aw, why?
Well, I thought it was hugely unnecessary to have those scenes in there. It just felt so awkward and weird, but then again I’m not fond of Age of Ultron in general. Definitely inferior to the first Avengers movie.
Oh, OK. I can understand that.
Fantastic list!
Thanks Tiffany! I forgot if we talked about this before, you’ve seen BELLE surely right? I LOVE miss Gugu in that, and of course John Davinier [swoon] 😉
Yes, I’ve seen and I love it!
Yay!
I was already thinking about a couple, but then I read about them having to be recent….and apart from the ones you already mentioned I kind of blanked out. Let’s go with some stranger ones like Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson in Her and although this isn’t really a romantic couple I’d also go for Ex Machina 😉
Hi Nostra! Ooooh the unconventional couple in HER, that’s a good one! How could I forget that. I like Ex Machina too, so it seems you like the combo of human and machine eh?
Haven’t seen them all, but Belle & John would be my fave from your list! 🙂
I haven’t been to the movies a lot recently. so blanking out on any recent fave couples. Oooh, however, something suddenly springs to mind… Last summer I saw this small British romcom called “Man Up”, and I really loved that and the flawed but lovable couple Nancy and Jack.
Hi Esther! I LOVE Belle, that’s now one of my fave period dramas of all time. I haven’t seen Man Up but is that the one w/ Simon Pegg and Lake Bell? I like both of them, I should give that a watch!
Yep, that’s the one! 🙂
Satine and Christian are a great couple. Elizabeth and Darcy is a classic pairing.
Hi Vin, glad you agree!
Movies romances really interest me when they’re done well.
Yes! Love this post, and great minds think alike, haha!

Hi Allie! Glad to hear you like the list. Great movie couples are hard to come by as chemistry is tough to fake.
As you know I’m not into romantic films so with the exception of Creed, I’ve never seen any of those films on your list. But I thought Adonis & Bianca were a great couple, I truly believe in their relationship thanks to the great work by both actors.
Hello Ted, sorry I missed your comment somehow. Yeah I like Adonis & Bianca, it’s not cheesy at all which is tough to do w/ romance.
Adaline & Ellis – ‘The Age of Adaline’
Great pick Cindy! 😀
Kat and Patrick – 10 Things I Hate About You.
Great pick, Abbi!
Good question: easily Jesse and Celine from the Before trilogy.
Oh great pick!
