LAC’s  director F. Gary Gray is keeping up with the times in promoting his upcoming flick. He’s asked his Twitter followers to help him get even more followers. Whoever sends him the most followers will be invited to the to the Law Abiding Citizen premiere in LA or NY. He’s been paying pretty close attention and named some of the people on Twitter who have been doing a good job so far. That’d be cool if I could win such a thing, but alas, I don’t think I can even compete with die-hard GB fans!

Recently, Gray put up a couple of teaser posters that are different from the one I posted a few days ago. Can you guys help me with the teaser posters? Remember this is NOT the final poster, just the teaser,‘ he tweeted. I’ve tweeted back saying that I like it, but what about applying a darker background on GB’s version to suit his vengeful, angry character better. In general I like it though, it’s edgy, artistic and less generic than the standard looking posters I’ve seen. It’d certainly grab my attention if I see this walking down the street. I can’t wait to see the trailer for this, it should be coming soon as October 16 is just a couple of months away!

Anyway peeps, what do you think of these posters? Do you like them better than the previous one?

Ensemble Cast in Movies – Valentine’s Day

heartI stumbled upon this upcoming movie on IMDB the other day, and it kind of reminded me of Love, Actually (which was set in London around Christmas time) when I read the plot: Intertwining couples and singles in Los Angeles break-up and make-up based on the pressures and expectations of Valentine’s Day.

Garry Marshall, the director of Pretty Woman who pretty much launched Julia Roberts’ career into Hollywood’s stratosphere, is teaming up with her again in what’s got to be the most star-studded cast I’ve seen in a while. Keeping Julia’s company are seasoned thespian Shirley MacLaine, the new ‘it’ boy Bradley Cooper; ‘it’ girls Jessica Biel & Anne Hathaway; tripple-threats Jamie Foxx & Queen Latifah; two young’un Taylors: Taylor Lautner of Twilight fame and singer Taylor Swift; and Seattle Grace’s docs McSteamy (Patrick Dempsey) & McDreamy (Eric Dane). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Foxx will play a sports reporter and Latifah will portray an agent for a football player played by Eric Dane.

See the full cast in IMDB, quite an interesting bunch, wouldn’t you say? Because of the romantic theme, I immediately think of Love, Actually, but it could actually be more of a romantic version Crash as it’s also set in L.A. with the characters in separate stories interwoven together.

Flicks with ensemble cast are generally fun to watch even though under less capable hands, the character development and plot can be compromised. Let’s hope Garry Marshall does this one right and not make it overly schmaltzy. This sounds like right up his alley, but I’ll reserve my judgment at least until the trailer comes out.
